PPA's Pharmacy Legislative Day was held on
Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in Harrisburg.
Pharmacists and pharmacy students from across Pennsylvania
came out in their white coats to show pharmacy's strength!

The day included screenings,
displays, and information provided by
six of Pennsylvania’s schools of pharmacy
in the East Wing Rotunda of the Capitol.

The
pharmacy schools provided attendees with information on the
following topics:
LECOM School of Pharmacy:
Smoking Cessation
Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy:
Diabetes Management and Blood Glucose, Hemoglobin A1c, and
Neuropathy Foot Screenings
Temple University School of Pharmacy:
Immunization Awareness
Wilkes University Nesbitt College of Pharmacy:
Medication Therapy Management Services (MTMS)
University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy:
Collaborative Practice in Community Settings, Hypertension
Assessment, and Blood Pressure Screenings
USP Philadelphia
College of Pharmacy:
Brown Bag Medication Review

Participants were able to meet with legislators and
staffers to discuss important issues of the profession
focusing on
Proposed Cuts to PACE Reimbursement, Fair Audits, Expansion of Scope of
Practice, and Safe Medication Disposal.
This was a great opportunity for PPA members to have their
voices heard
and to stress the importance of issues facing pharmacy
today.

This year's Pharmacy Legislative Day turned out to be a huge
success! PPA extends its sincere gratitude to those who came out
to support pharmacy!
